Accessibility statement

I want this site to work for everyone who lands on it, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, or a phone in bright sunlight. Last updated October 2026.

What I am aiming for

The target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. I am not claiming a formal audit or a certification — I have not paid for one, and I would rather tell you that than imply otherwise. What I can tell you is what I actually check on every build.

What gets checked on every site I build

  • Text contrast against its background, so it stays readable in daylight on a phone.
  • Tap targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels, so buttons and links are easy to hit with a thumb.
  • Body text no smaller than 12.5 pixels, and form fields at 16 pixels so iPhones do not zoom when you tap into them.
  • Headings in a real order — one H1, then H2s under it — so a screen reader can skim the page the way a sighted visitor does.
  • Every meaningful image gets alt text. Decorative images are marked as decorative so they are skipped.
  • Keyboard navigation: you can tab through the whole page and see where you are.
  • A skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
  • No critical information conveyed by colour alone.
  • Layouts tested at 320, 390 and 430 pixels wide, with no sideways scrolling.

Where it may fall short

Honest list. Embedded third-party content — a Google map, a booking widget, a social feed — renders how that company builds it, and I do not control its markup. PDFs and photos supplied by a client may not be tagged or captioned. And automated checks catch a lot but not everything; some problems only turn up when a real person using assistive technology hits them.

Found something that does not work?

Tell me and I will fix it. Email larry@keckwebdesigns.com or call (267) 406-9733. Say which page, what you were trying to do, and what you were using — browser, phone, screen reader, whatever is relevant. I reply within two working days and I will tell you honestly whether it is a quick fix or something bigger.

Client sites

The same checks run on every site I build for a client. If you have found a problem on a site I built for someone else, you are welcome to tell me and I will pass it on, but the site belongs to that business and they decide what changes.

Something blocking you?

Email me at larry@keckwebdesigns.com and I will sort it. If it is easier to talk, call (267) 406-9733.
