Terms of service

The rules we both work under. Written in plain English on purpose — if a term is going to matter later, you should be able to understand it now. Last updated October 2026.

Who this is between

These terms cover work done by Keck Web Designs of Doylestown, Pennsylvania — “I” and “me” below — for the business engaging me, “you”. They apply from the point you accept a quote. Anything we agree in writing for a specific project overrides what is here.

Quotes and scope

A quote lists the pages and features included. It holds for 30 days. Work outside that list is a change order: I will tell you the cost before doing it, never after. If something turns out to be bigger than either of us expected, I will say so rather than quietly absorbing it or quietly billing for it.

Payment

  • A deposit starts the build. The balance is due before the site goes live.
  • Monthly plans are billed monthly from the day the site launches.
  • Build prices start at $600 for Starter, $950 for Growth and $1,500 for Pro. Monthly plans are $45, $65 and $95 respectively. Current prices are always on the pricing page and the ones quoted to you are the ones that apply.
  • Invoices are due on receipt. If an invoice goes 30 days unpaid I may pause work and hosting, after telling you first.

What the monthly plan covers

Hosting, SSL, WordPress and plugin updates, security monitoring, backups, and small text and image changes. It does not cover new pages, redesigns, new features, or rebuilding content you have replaced — those get quoted separately. If you are unsure whether something is included, ask before assuming; I would rather answer than surprise you.

You can cancel a monthly plan at any time with 30 days’ notice. I do not refund part-months. If you cancel, I will give you an export of your site so you can take it elsewhere.

Your domain stays yours

You buy your own domain, on your own account, in your own name, with your own card. I will walk you through it, and it costs around $11 a year. I never register it for you and I never hold it. That means a lapsed card of mine can never take your site offline, and I can never hold your address over you if you decide to leave. This is deliberate.

What I need from you

Content, photos, and answers. Most projects that run late run late for one reason: waiting on the client. If I do not hear from you for 30 days mid-project, I may treat the project as paused and invoice for work completed. Picking it back up afterwards is fine; it just goes back in the queue.

Who owns what

  • When the final invoice is paid, the design and content of your site are yours.
  • WordPress, the theme, and any plugins stay under their own licences — I pass on the right to use them, I do not sell them to you.
  • Content you give me stays yours, and you confirm you have the right to use it. If you hand me a photo you do not have a licence for, that is on you.
  • I may show your site in my portfolio and on my own marketing unless you ask me not to. Just ask — it is not a negotiation.

Hosting and uptime

Sites are hosted on Hostinger. Their infrastructure is good but no host is up 100% of the time, and I do not promise a specific uptime figure I do not control. Backups run automatically. If something goes down, fixing it is included in your monthly plan.

What I do not guarantee

I do not guarantee search rankings, traffic, enquiries or sales. Nobody honestly can — Google does not sell that and neither do I. What I guarantee is that the site is built properly, loads fast, works on a phone, and is set up so search engines can read it. What happens after that depends on your market, your competition and your business.

Liability

If something goes wrong and it is my fault, my liability is limited to the amount you paid me in the 12 months before it happened. I am not liable for lost profits or indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Ending the agreement

Either of us can end a monthly plan with 30 days’ notice. I may end it sooner if invoices go unpaid or if I am asked to publish something unlawful or deceptive. On cancellation you get your site files and your domain stays yours, because it was always yours.

Governing law

Pennsylvania law applies, and any dispute belongs in the courts of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Before it ever gets that far, call me — almost everything is fixable with a conversation.

Changes

I may update these terms. The version in force for your project is the one published when you accepted your quote. Material changes to a live monthly plan get 30 days’ notice by email.
